Because almost everyone uses it to chat, so if that dies too we can't use it as an information source.
The tab, no. But you can still use e.g. http://www.esper.net/publicirc.php... or just install a normal IRC client.

the fourum keeps crashing and im getting 504 Gateway Time-out errors

The night is upon us, and the hour draws near.

Hm, whatever. The lobby is already transferred to my old EeePC once more, where it was running for quite a while in the olden days, before we had the snazzy server and all. I'll switch everything back tomorrow, and hope things remains working until then and the Eee's wireless connection doesn't spontaneously combust. We'll see. Anyway, good night.
