hello nagn here with a playable beta
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/92157440/PyGG2.zip

host a server, then launch the test client (connects to local host by default so you won't crash)

right now game's a piece of shit but I hope to fix that eventually

also if someone has an issue with running the game, please tell me, and if running vcredist_x86 helped you in any way

can only play scout and multiplayer wont work

alpha = engine being developed, game direction decided
beta = engine basically done, game being polished and finished
prealpha = engine being developed, game direction cloudy OR engine inoperable, game direction being written

What's left before this is up and running? Does server code work? Can you kill a player?

In essence, what's the next major milestone PyGG2 needs to reach?

I don't like to sound badly about this project, as there's a lot of stuff done to it without visible outside interpretation, but currently the next major milestone is getting someone to work on it again

The Server code works. Killing does not. There's no real gameplay, however, there are features already not accessible from Gang Garrison 2, such as proper interpolation, and prediction, but prediction's pretty broken, so nevermind that.

UDP networking works (obvs.), Holepunching (hosting without port forwarding) does not.

Actually, the prediction works now on my branch, except for a thing I oversaw which is that events get overwritten.

But yeah, NAGN's right. The next milestone is gathering everyone again and getting people to work.
NC will (hopefully) someday appear with polygon collision done, and someone also has to finish up teams and damage, something that's mostly there but not quite.

Haxxies are proving to be a big time-eater though. Sorry.

The only things wikipedia can be relied upon to have right are the things that are universally accepted.

That isn't to say that it's completely unreliable, but don't trust it for jargon that isn't 100% codified.
